  Vertigo Theatre Society

Vertigo Theatre was founded 30 years ago as Plaeides Theatre, and incorporated as a charitable society in 1997 (Charitable Number: 88394 1825 RT0001). In 2002 Plaeides changed its name to Vertigo Theatre Society. In 2003, its mandate was expanded to include a commitment to theatre for young audience programming as well as to a collaborative model for sharing its home with other arts organizations. In October 2003, after three years of planning, fundraising and construction, the society opened its new $6.8 million theatre complex in Palliser Square, adjacent to The Calgary Tower on time, on budget and without capital debt.

Vertigo Theatre is a member of the Professional Association of Canadian Theatres (P.A.CT.) and engages artists who are members of the Canadian Actors’ Equity Association. It is a founding member of the Calgary Professional Arts Alliance as well as a newly formed national alliance of theatre for young audience presenters and producers.

Vertigo Theatre Society is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors and administered by a full time professional staff including an Artistic Director, General Manager, marketing, production, box office and front of house staff.

Any person may become a member of the Society upon payment of the annual membership dues, which are $25 per calendar year. Members are entitled to attend all meetings of the Society and to vote at those meetings.
