Where Kids Find Their Questions

Beneath the Banyan Tree
by Emil Sher
Produced by Theatre Direct Canada
October 23 to 25

Ages 6 and up

When Anjali moves from India to Canada, nothing from her old life seems to fit. Fearing that her peers will mock her bright clothes and foreign food, she shies away from seeming "too Indian"—except in her imagination. Here her creativity runs wild through Indian song and dance, conjuring three colourful friends from Indian fable who help her summon the courage to be herself. But what will happen when Anjali shows her true self to her new friends?

How do you find where you fit in without forgetting where you came from?

It's hard to find yourself when everyone sees through you.

The Invisible Girl
by Michele Riml
Produced by Quest Theatre (Calgary)
November 27 to 29

Ages 6 to 12

Ali used to be part of the most popular group in Grade 5. Then she made a BIG mistake—and now all her best friends treat her like she's invisible!  When no one sees you, it's amazing how you start to see others. The Invisible Girl is a smart and humorous look at our culture's preoccupation with fashion, beauty and popularity.
